Great Grey in Flight

A Great Grey owl in flight!  It was especially odd seeing this bird as active during the day as it was.  But what a cool looking bird.  That distinctive facial disk funnels sound directly to its ears.  Surprisingly enough, despite the fact that it’s eyes are about 50% the size of it’s head this owl mostly uses hearing to hunt.  Another fun fact: the Great Grey Owl is the tallest owl in Alaska standing between 24-33 inches high with a wingspan of up to 5 feet.
