The Ctenosaur, also known as the Black Iguana. I prefer the former, it sounds more prehistoric. I found this gentleman in front of the Bambula Hotel in Samara, Costa Rica where we stayed for a week. A beautiful beach town filled with tropical birds, lizards and quite a few monkeys. This is one of the largest Ctenosaurs I found, I’m guessing he is fairly old. All the other iquanas seemed to be subordinate to him. Bigger is better, especially for a good picture.
